What cookies are and why we use them

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on the device you are using. When you return, that file is sent back to us, so the browser can be recognised and your session kept running. Similar technologies, such as pixels, tags and local storage, do much the same job, and where this policy says cookies it covers all of them.

We use cookies for four broad reasons: to keep your account secure and your session stable, to understand how our pages perform, to remember the choices you make, and to measure which campaigns bring players to the site. Some cookies are set by us. Others are set by the suppliers who provide parts of the site, such as hosting, payment processing and traffic measurement.

Cookies also last for different periods. Session cookies are deleted as soon as you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay on your device for a fixed period, or until you delete them, so that the site remembers you between visits. The provider and duration of each cookie we currently set are listed in the cookie notice on the site.

We hold a gaming licence and are required to verify the accounts we open. A small number of cookies support the security and identity checks that go with that obligation.

The categories of cookies we use

We group cookies into four categories. Strictly necessary cookies are always active, because the site cannot work without them. The other three categories are optional and are only set if you agree to them.

CategoryWhat it is used forOptional?
Strictly necessarySign-in, session security, fraud prevention, recording your cookie choicesNo
Performance and analyticsCounting visits, page speed, error reportingYes
FunctionalityRemembering settings and preferences you have chosenYes
MarketingMeasuring campaigns and limiting repeat advertisingYes

Strictly necessary cookies

These keep you signed in as you move between pages, hold your cashier session together while a deposit or withdrawal is in progress, balance traffic across our servers, and help us spot and block sign-in attempts that look fraudulent. They also store the answers you give in the cookie notice, so we do not have to ask again on every page. Because you could not log in, fund your account or play without them, these cookies cannot be turned off through the notice.

Performance and analytics cookies

These tell us how the site is being used: how many people open a page, which pages are opened most often, how quickly pages load on different devices, and where error messages appear. The reporting we see is aggregated, so it describes groups of visitors rather than naming you. We use it to fix broken journeys and to decide which parts of the site need work.

Functionality cookies

These remember the choices you have already made, so you do not have to make them again. Typical examples are your preferred language, whether game sound is on or off, the layout you last used for the game lists, and whether you have closed an on-site message. If you decline them, the site still works, but it will treat each visit as though it were your first.

Marketing cookies

These help us measure which adverts and referrals lead to a registration, and they limit how often the same advert is shown to the same browser. We do not use them to build advertising audiences from people who have told us they no longer wish to hear from us, and we do not knowingly direct gambling advertising at anyone under 18. You can decline this category without losing access to any part of your account.

What happens if you block cookies

Declining optional cookies will not stop you using your account. Blocking cookies at browser level is different, because it also blocks the strictly necessary ones, and parts of the site then stop working as intended.

  • You may be signed out when you move between pages, or unable to sign in at all.
  • A deposit or withdrawal may fail part-way through if the cashier session cannot be held open.
  • Game windows may not open, or may lose their settings each time you launch them.
  • Security checks may treat each visit as new, which can mean extra verification steps.

Session cookies are required to play

If your browser is set to block all cookies, we cannot keep your account secure during a session, and real-money play will not be available until the setting is changed.

Changes to this policy and how to reach us

We update this policy when the cookies we set change, or when the way we explain them can be made clearer. The current version is always the one published on this page, and the cookie notice on the site holds the up-to-date list of individual cookies, their providers and how long each one lasts.

Safer gambling

Our site is for adults aged 18 or over. Deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion are set in your account rather than through cookies, so clearing your browser never removes a limit or a block you have already applied. Free, confidential support is available from GambleAware, GamCare and the National Gambling Helpline, and GamStop can exclude you from licensed online operators in Great Britain.

If you have a question about this policy, want to know more about a particular cookie, or believe a choice you saved has not been applied, write to us at support@casinosmoothspins.co.uk or use the live chat on the site. Please tell us the device and browser you were using, so that we can look into it properly.
